Ok, so turns out consistently blogging isn’t really my thing… but I’m back in action with a renewed purpose and something more substantial to share than “I only hit my snooze button twice this morning – wahoo!”
If you’ve found your way here, it’s likely because I’ve written you as a member of my “personal cheerleading squad”. Get ready, because we’re up for quite the adventure! J I’ll be posting prayer requests for our group, and learnings both as we prepare for and are in India. Afterwards, there will obviously be plenty of pictures and stories too!
If you’ve come across this blog from other methods of sharing, here’s a re-cap of the next chapter of my Big Adventure:
In March, I will be spending ten days in Southern India - in the cities of Chennai and Bangalore as a member of a mission trip sponsored by a local church here in Minneapolis.
Our team will be providing for daily needs (such as food), leading vacation bible school, and ministering in women’s communities for widows, but the main focus of the trip is evangelism. To be completely honest, this aspect of the trip makes me really uncomfortable. Our group will at times literally be going door-to-door. This is an experience I’ve never had before, and in many ways never desired to. I’m extremely nervous – only 2.3% of the people in India are Christian, despite religious freedom. However, I can already feel that God is stretching my trust in Him and preparing me for what will be a very trying trip. Please pray with me that God would just go before our group and soften hearts to hear His Word. Please also pray for our physical, emotional and spiritual health as we prepare for and are in India.
Outside of these challenges, the trip is especially unique because it’s a “dual” mission trip. By that, I mean that not only will this be a great opportunity to serve the people of India, but nine of my co-workers are also a part of the mission team. So, for the ten of us, it’s also about how we maximize the opportunities that naturally arise from our co-workers’ curiosity to share about the purpose behind the trip. This brings additional opportunities, as well as pressure of the spotlight in our daily business dealings. Please join me in asking God to provide the words we speak so that he may be glorified through our messages and conversations here in Minneapolis.
Please join me in praying for the group and our trip. Thank you for your support and I look forward to sharing with you how God works through this and answers our prayers!
